4. Bigfoot
Back in 2004, a popular rumour started doing the rounds on internet chat forums claiming a "Big Foot" type Yetti creature lived in, and could be seen ambling around the 'Back-o-Beyond' region of San Andreas. Players in their masses flocked to the forested region of the game hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive and legendary Sasquatch, but were spurned when it transpired the whole thing was an elaborate hoax. Rockstar themselves even had to step in at the time to debunk the speculation, with CEO Terry Donovan saying that
"There is no Bigfoot, just like in real life." Still, there were future nods to Big Foot by Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption, for example, featured Yetti in the 'Undead Nightmare' expansion pack and, after the player had killed it, an achievement titled Six Years in the Making was unlocked, poking fun at the famous San Andreas myth. In GTA V, players can buy clothing featuring Big Foot's likeness, while the developers even went a step further by including the fabled beast twice in-game - during the Predator mission and also in a hunting side-quest.
