9. The Open World
According to R*, GTA V boasts the biggest open world in the history of the GTA franchise. Let me just quantify that for you; GTA V's in-game world is apparently bigger than the maps of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA IV
combined. That's right,
combined. The revealed areas of this new and staggeringly vast world include beachfronts, the wilderness, the mountains, military bases and suburbs as well as the classic GTA living city of course, which is undoubtedly where we'll be spending most of our time. But it's not all about size, as my girlfriend is always respectful enough to point out. Texturally, GTA V's map will feature the best of Red Dead Redemption's large open desert expanses as well as the familiar GTA "densely packed urban environment" in what certainly looks to be R*'s most detailed and expansive map to date. And when you think back at just how detailed and expansive their in-game maps were before GTA V, that really is saying something.
