7. Accessing The Map

This has been a problem in all GTA games and it amazes me that it is still an issue, because it could be so fixed so easily. Whatever way you look at it, the map plays a big part in GTA, and you have to make regular use of it. That is where you find missions, side quests and pastimes in Los Santos, but to get to it is such a pain in the butt. Firstly, you have to hit the pause button and then select the map. That might not sound like a big nuisance, but the two steps to access it and the delay as it loads is enough for it to become jarring. You might be in the middle of an intense chase, and nothing takes you out of a game more than hitting pause and fiddling around on the map screen. It should be a one-button process; it could have been mapped to the back button, so that you press it and instantly you are navigating the map.
