7. The Music
The soundtrack in GTA V is just about okay - there are some excellent tracks on there, but it definitely feels like the musical accompaniment to the GTA games has been on a steady decline since the heady days of Vice City. Despite the high-points, it feels a lot like Rockstar haven't invested in music as heavily as fans might demand - which is perhaps why they found themselves facing legal action over the use of two songs by rapper Daz Dillinger (

Surely a cardinal sin for any game's music department is to make it preferable to turn the music off entirely and that's exactly the effect that prolongued exposure for the majority of the radio stations achieves in GTA V. It's unfortunate that Rockstar still haven't rolled out an MP3 player in the game, or at least a customisable radio station - which will no doubt be added for the PC release early on by modders, as it traditionally always is - to allow players to bring their own musical tastes to their gameplay experience. Perhaps it's down to the fact that Vice City's commitment to music was so incredible, but the series has never had anything like that sort of high-point since, and the music in GTA V is often unforgivably boring.
