4. Less is More
As with the city, the whole game needs to be toned down to its basics. Less vehicles and types of weaponry mean that we focus on the games messages and themes rather than collecting the best stuff. This approach encourages a bit of skill rather than a level system where one guy simply has a bigger gun than you. Some favourites were missing from GTA IV like the combine harvester or a chainsaw and it is a better game for it. Both these items were extraneous and would have been tonally out of place in a game with a pretense at seriousness (not to mention the impossibility of coming across a combine in a busy city!). One of the biggest flaws of LA Noire was when they gave you that stupid flamethrower at the end. It was extraneous and tonally irrelevant in a game that otherwise I lauded as pretty much perfect
