GTA V: 7 Signs It Will Be Rockstar's Masterpiece (So Far)

1. Characters

GTA V Similar to the presented landscapes, sometimes it is the playable character that elicits emotional investment into the game. While GTA 3 had a mute protagonist who mostly just ran errands, Vice City had a Tony Montana replicate played by none other than Ray Liotta. Others loved the urban ghetto approach revolving around gang wars and crooked cops with CJ in San Andreas. Whatever your preference, GTA V's highly touted instantaneous character swapping feature provides players with an unprecedented level of freedom whether they are free roaming or tackling a mission. Trevor may be the most psychotic character to date in the franchise seemingly only concerned about causing mayhem which goes hand in hand with the franchise. Franklin is arguably the new CJ as is his arc seems to be a thug seeking ascension to a more preserved life. As for Michael€ I still firmly believe that he is secretly Tommy Vercetti in hiding as a twist. Point being, three characters provide for three different styles of play and personality. It may be the boldest move ever for a Rockstar game, but it is bold leaps of faith and ambition like this that launched them to the top in the first place. GTA V releases on September 17th for the PS3/360 and it feels like Rockstar€™s entire development portfolio has been building to this likely generation defining culmination of a game.
