Advertisements and radio stations also have a nasty streak of misogyny running through them in Grand Theft Auto V. Head on down to Downtown Vinewood, for example, and you can see a billboard (above) parodying Chanel perfume, with a message urging potential buyers to "Smell like a bitch". The perfume in the GTA universe is called 'Le Chien', which is French for dog. Further sexist adverts can be found throughout the game, with ads that equate manhood with sleek sports cars and voices on the radio encouraging listeners to "use women like urinals". Then there's Chattersphere, a talk-show hosted - sorry - co-hosted by Lazlow and Michelle, which features Lazlow complaining incessantly that he's been paired with a woman and making all sorts of sexist comments along the way, such as - "the reason men talk over women is because you yammer on", "Id much rather be. mistreating women" as well as recommending underground clubs where "you can finger groupies". Co-host Michelle does put Lazlow in his place, (correctly) observing that he hates women, but then goes on to fawn over male, celebrity callers.
