Missions are a fairly big part of the Grand Theft Auto experience. Completing them earns cash rewards, unlocks weapons, and, of course, progresses the game's narrative. But you have to kill a truck load of bad guys first. One thing that jarred with me is that there are barely any - if any at all - female antagonists during missions. It seems to me that a huge proportion of the villains you plough through with your machine gun are male. Are we expected to believe that women can't be villainous, and pick up a weapon? I seem to remember Catalina being pretty handy with a gun in GTA III. And it doesn't end there. Females also have poor representation in the emergency services as well as the criminal underworld. The game's artwork depicted Officer Vasquez, a female police officer, yet only a small percentage of female officers are found in GTA V. Female paramedics, you ask? Nope. Female ambulance drivers at least? Nope. Female firefighters? Not a single one. Talk about sexual discrimination in the workplace.
