7. World of Warcraft
Personal Rating: 8/10 The world's biggest massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft continues to expand and attract more subscribers. Combining the original game and the following four expansion packs, WoW now has over 7 million gamers hooked! Although it doesn't appeal to many PS3 or Xbox gamers, it is still immensely popular and draws people in with its use of role-playing and allowing the gamer to live in a separate world as they control their character. The storyline and gameplay itself is good, but the most appealing aspect is the ability to interact and play with other people in an online format. The game has proven to be so addictive that there are even dedicated centers to rehabilitate people who are addicted to the game. WoW has never appealed to me, largely due to the fact that it is a recurring expense rather than a one-off purchase. However, for those addicted to the game it will consistently result in dubious days off work, especially around the release of each new expansion pack!
