GTA V Remastered: 10 Reasons To Revisit San Andreas
10. Father/Son
Watching Michael De Santa unravel as his past comes back to haunt him is one of the most entertaining plot threads in Grand Theft Auto V and a lot of his issues are showcased in this early mission. Michael's son Jimmy tries to sell his father's yacht for drug money; but instead the buyers steal it with Jimmy still cowering inside. You can almost feel something inside Michael's mind snap as he frantically decides to chase the yacht down to rescue his son and save his beloved boat. Luckily, he brings his new protégé Franklin along for the ride, who actually does a lot of the work in this mission; climbing onto the moving yacht, fighting off some of the 'buyers' and helping Jimmy get out. Michael's main role is to stick close to the boat before catching his son as he hangs precariously - and hilariously - over the highway from the yacht's boom. This mission is highly memorable for bringing back the series' wacky sense of humour that was somewhat lost in Grand Theft Auto IV and it sets the tone for the rest of the game perfectly. Revisiting it on next-gen platforms can only improve the experience too; Rockstar are apparently making the streets more condensed with traffic, a change which would immediately add to the mayhem and challenge to this mission. Having doubts about whether GTA V will be able to pull you in again? We'd wager that Father/Son will feel like a massive homecoming.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
