3. It's Cute That People Think GTA V Will Be Good...
Source:IGN Boards"GTA IV sucked and GTA V will probably be worse."
The quote above is just a representation of a thread on IGN back in January 2012 - more than a year and a half before the game was released, and while there are some legitimate criticisms of GTA IV in there, the sweeping troll-like statements that open it can't be ignored for what they are.
Did They Play? Not at the time of starting the thread, but then Jesus (the user calls himself "holyjesusjuice") probably isn't tied to conventional concepts of linear time, so maybe.
Diagnosis In amongst the "sensible" responses to the game's hype in this thread, it all boils down to just another group of trolls, looking for a response. Valid criticisms in there suggest that Rockstar have forgotten their roots, and would inevitably go with a more serious approach to the game, ignoring the principles and entertaining pillars that made the first games so much fun, but in retrospect, those claims (which were expounded with furious conviction) look pretty awkward. GTA V is a rollicking barrel of fun, and while there is a general commitment to a serious gameplay experience, there's enough in there to genuinely call it a "fun" game, which some former fans seem to have suggested as an impossibility before release. The worst part of the thread is the claim that the trailers for GTA V were somehow poor, and that Rockstar always releases disjointed trailers. Quite what the user was watching while the rest of the world was glistening with excitement at pretty much all of the trailers remains to be confirmed, but it surely can't have been the actual trailers themselves, which ranked up alongside Dead Island as the most irresistible in recent memory.
