As gaming hardware has progressed, gamers have expected to see less and less in the way of load times. When CD discs first became the norm, long load times were forgivable, as developers worked with a new format, but there's little excuse for lengthy waiting times nowadays, and by 2018, fans hope they will be a thing of the past altogether. Rockstar have always spoken about producing an experience that is unmatched, and GTA VI must strive to get rid of any and all loading from the game, full-stop. Admittedly, GTA V was not bogged down by loading screens, but there were still some hitches when it came to playing online. That's perhaps understandable, because GTA Online was very much experimental, and Rockstar were honest about that, but GTA VI can't have the same problem. Grand Theft Auto is an immersive experience, one that gamers want to lose themselves in. There are few things more jarring than having to wait for a game to load in between sequences, taking people out of that captivated feeling they have when playing video games, and that's something that needs to change. GTA V improved on this immeasurably, now it's time for Rockstar to do away with loading times altogether if they can.
