GTA VI: 10 Reasons It Must Return To Vice City

2. The 80s Are The Perfect Decade To Parody

Because of its gritty setting and heightened sense of seriousness, GTA IV was the most divisive game in the series. In contrast, GTA V returned to doing what Rockstar always did best - which was parody absolutely every aspect of society to such a relentless extent that the game nigh-on became a parody of itself. The series relishes in pee-taking, and let's face it, there's a hell of a lot to laugh at about the 80s. The 80s are rife with outrageous outfits, awful hairdos, hairy chests, punks, pump trainers, synth music, glam rock, new wave, heavy metal and excessive denim. The original Vice City did an incredible job of capturing these excesses, but we need to see them combine with some of the perks of more recent GTA games. Wouldn't it be great to go to a shop and kit out your character in whatever 80s garb you liked, or go boogie at a disco with those colour-changing tiles? Plenty of fans have been calling for GTA to step even further back in time, to 70s Detroit for example. But things just weren't so fun-and-games back then; racial tensions were high, as was unemployment and infant mortality. Hardly the stuff parodies are made of.
