GTA VI: 10 Things It Must Learn From Sleeping Dogs

3. Clothing Bonuses/Perks

Although Rockstar would later patch in the option to change things like hats and shades from a pop-up menu, for the most part in GTA V you were forever going to specific shops to outfit your characters in their respectable duds - only to play as someone else and lose your preset every time. Assumedly this was included to show that the characters have a 'life' outside of you controlling them, but to be honest is that really necessary? It essentially does away with the very idea of customising your character in the first place - something that on the flip-side didn't offer anything of any real value anyway. Instead of having clothing options be utterly meaningless either way you look at them, instead do what 'Dogs does and tie both reputation within the world, gang affiliation and other perks like melee damage or slow-motion windows to exactly what you're wearing. San Andreas had this where whatever colours you had on meant different gangs would treat you accordingly, but since then it's essentially been dropped.
