GTA VI: 8 Hot New Rumours You Need To Know

7. A GTA V Spinoff Could Arrive First

Between the unexpected success of GTA Online and the development of Red Dead Redemption 2 comes word that GTA VI is on the back burner at Rockstar.

These reports have revived rumours that a spinoff of sorts could bridge the gap between the two games. This was once a long-running tradition for Rockstar Games, although the studio's practises have changed since DLC became a thing.

It started with London 1969 and continued with classics such as Vice City, released between the numbered entries in the series. If GTA VI really is as far off as its sounds, is this something the developer could revisit?

Despite renewed calls for a spinoff, it seems unlikely given that the studio's Grand Theft Auto resources are currently tied up in GTA Online updates.

Then again, players were once promised story DLC for GTA V, an idea which Rockstar appeared to quietly kill off behind the scenes.

With GTA Online still lucrative, perhaps the funds it is generating could be invested in the story DLC's revival, giving fans the spinoff they crave ahead of GTA VI.
