Yes, people may think of bare-knuckle boxing as something that in the last 50 years has only ever happened in Guy Ritchie's Snatch, but it's actually a pretty popular underground sport here in the UK. A GTA game set in and around London should make organised bare-knuckle fights a way of earning money and reputation in the game. Early on, you could ply your trade in rings formed of human circles, or fighting one-on-one against Irish travellers around campsites, while later on you could advance to underground boxing rings in the city. Such a mechanic would built up your character's fighting stat, but it'd also be a great excuse for Rockstar to improve the melee combat in its games. Let's bring in grappling, headbutting and biting, and give players more control over whether they're throwing with their left hand or right hand. Develop the system enough, and it could become an excellent online mode as well - complete with regional and international titles! Admittedly, I'm probably channelling my passion for EA's abandoned Fight Night series here, but surely we can all agree that including proper fighting mechanics would be awesome.
