Half Life 3: 10 Reasons It Must Be Made Now

8. A Portal Gun?!

This is a theory I€™ve been cultivating in Half Life 3€™s long absence and it€™s one which I seriously hope comes to fruition. If our next primary location - or at least destination - is Aperture Science€™s Borealis, a ship on board which clearly sits portal technology on a huge scale (or else why and how was the research vessel mysteriously relocated?) then surely that means there€™s other technology on board as well? I€™m sure you realise what I€™m getting it. Half Life and Portal have always been connected by continuity; it€™s common knowledge that they share the same world together. So my theory is thus: when we arrive at the Borealis, we€™ll get a Portal Gun. It€™s simple really, and when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Portal 1 and 2 almost seem like a training exercise, like a test to see how gamers would respond to the Portal Gun€™s insane logicality. And respond we did. As you€™ll probably be aware, the Portal franchise was insanely popular. If there was every any doubt in Valve€™s mind about whether or not it would work in a Half Life game, they€™ve now been expelled. Please Valve, get this game out already! If I can just lob one grenade through a portal onto a group of unsuspecting enemies, I can die a happy man.
