Half Life 3: 10 Reasons It Must Be Made Now

7. A New Innovation

Remember when you first got the Zero point Energy Field Manipulator (or as it€™s more commonly known, the Anti-Gravity Gun)? Remember how exciting that was? Or going back even further, can you remember how you felt to first enter the Half Life universe as Freeman; a low level research scientist who was running that little bit late for work? It was like nothing you€™d ever experienced, right? And when the s**t started to hit the Anti-Mass Spectrometer, when the FPS game actually began proper, had you ever had a gaming experience like it before? Valve, mainly using their synonymous Half Life series, raced to the front of the pack in terms of innovation; from the way it was presented, the way the story was delivered, the physics, the graphics. Hell, Valve pretty much turned around and showed the video game industry how to make a proper video game. Not just a AAA title that€™s soaked up guaranteed cash, but a AAA title that soaked up cash as well as the hearts and minds of its users. This makes me start to consider just why Half Life 3 has taken so long to come out. After all, initially, the next game was intended to be Half Life 3: Episode 3 but eventually, after more and more time ebbed away, it was announced that they would in fact release HL 3 as a stand-alone title. But why? Is it too big to be contained by a single episode? Just what new trick are you conjuring Valve, what new innovation?! Again, I have absolutely no clue. But Valve don€™t just make any old game. They make the game. They€™re working on something special, you mark these words. Still, I can€™t help but feel the time will come along very soon (if it hasn€™t come and gone already) when we€™ve waited long enough.
