Half Life 3: 10 Reasons It Must Be Made Now

4. An Open World?!

You€™ll find plenty of rumours online about Half Life. Hell, you€™ll probably find plenty of rumours online about what Ben Affleck had for breakfast yesterday morning, if you really wanted to. That said, I did read a rumour (which is admittedly old news by now) that Half Life 3, for the first time in the series history, would be an open world sandbox game instead of the traditional linear level design. What?! Sandbox Half Life?! I think the only phrase that could sound any better to my ears would be €˜free money€™, or perhaps €˜unlimited sex€™ but you know, even those offers would be in direct competition with the idea of a fully open world Half Life game, if I had to choose just one. In short, I€™m all for it. Not that I€™d turn my nose up at another linear Half Life game (you know Valve would offer up something special regardless), but the prospect of an entirely new gameplay experience set within the Valve universe, for me, is nothing short of mouth-watering.
