Half Life 3: 10 Reasons It Must Be Made Now

3. G-Man

G-Man is perhaps the most mysterious character ever presented in a video game. You know the G-Man, he€™s Freeman€™s suit-wearing, dimension-hopping employer, who always seems to be where you need to go next. How he got there before you, or indeed what the hell he was doing is and always has been a mystery. And part of me thinks it€™s a mystery we€™ll never solve, that we€™ll save the world in HL3 and he€™ll either vanish entirely or simply move Freeman on to his next inter-dimensional mission, whatever that may be. Then again, another part of me argues that Valve have to let us in on the secret, and that there€™s no more perfect a time do so that in the supposed final chapter. Think about it. Who is G-Man€™s employer? Is he actually a good guy? I mean, he€™s encouraging Freeman do good deeds, like saving the world repeatedly for example. But to what end? Who€™s to say that once the Combine have been defeated, G-Man and his employer(s?) won€™t just take their place as supreme overlords of Earth, that that wasn€™t their plan all along? Once more, I have no idea. But christ, the desire to find out burns inside me like an ulcer.
