1. One Last Time, Can You Recap Half-Life’s Story So Far?
To conclude our list and get you on your way to Half-Life: Alyx, here is a brief summary of Half-Life 1 to Half-Life 2, and its Episodes.
Gordon Freeman starts the Resonance Cascade that opens a rift to another dimension, Xen. Aliens from Xen invade and Gordon makes his way through the facility, attempting to reach the Lambda Core. Upon doing so, he is teleported to Xen to face the Nihilanth, as it is holding the portal open.
He kills the Nihilanth, freeing the vortigaunts, and he takes up a contract from the mysterious G-Man.
That's Half-Life 1.
Gordon wakes up, over a decade later, in a train arriving at City 17.
He eventually meets up with the Black Mesa gang before being ambushed. After being specifically told, "We don't go there" Gordon goes through Ravenholm. You drive a car, learn to control Antlions and attack Nova Prospekt to rescue Alyx’s father.
You teleport back to City 17 but… a week has passed during teleportation. This has sparked an uprising and you join in on blowing sh*t up. You reach the Citadel and destroy it while pursuing Black Mesa lead and Combine advisor, Dr. Breen.
Stopping time amid an explosion, the G-Man implies that you’ll be put back in stasis. However, the vortigaunts stop him doing this and save you and Alyx. The G-Man does not like this.
During Episode 1, you escape the city via train before the citadel explodes, again.
In Episode 2 you must make your way to the White Forest. More driving, ambushes and a near-death encounter between Alyx and a Hunter.
The vortigaunts once again save her life, which allows G-Man to speak with you. You save the White Forest facility from an ambush. After launching a rocket into space to close the the exploded Citadel's portal, you attempt to leave for the Borealis.
However, before doing so, another attack ends with Eli Vance being killed by an advisor.
