Halo 4: 10 Much Needed Improvements On Reach

8. Better Forge

O.K, I'll admit it, I hate Forge. When I first heard Halo 3 was going to feature a map editor I was ecstatic, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a proper map editor for one of my favourite multiplayer games. Unfortunately I was let down massively. Forge is clunky, time consuming and frustratingly difficult to use, and very little changed with the release of Reach. With games like Portal 2 and Skyrim giving us fully fledged, fully featured map editors is it really too much to ask that we get a proper editing program for Halo 4? Some of the community creations we've seen from Forge have been pretty astounding and I admire the patience that must've gone into making them, but just imagine what these dedicated players could do if they had a real editing tool at their disposal. With terrain editing, options to add different types of flora and other scenery, terrain paints and maybe even custom scripting a content editor could add some real replayability to Halo 4. By linking a PC/Mac based editor to Halo Waypoint we could have a player driven rating system for custom maps, leading to the most popular creations being given a permanent place in Matchmaking. Of course giving players unlimited control over custom content could lead to a decrease in demand for official DLC, but is that really such a bad thing?
