9. Dynamic Multiplayer Maps
The map design in Halo has always been top-notch, with fan favourites such as Blood Gulch and Beaver Creek still going strong 10 years down the line. But imagine if those maps changed as you played them. Imagine playing Blood Gulch in the middle of a thunderstorm, with limited visibility giving those pesky snipers a hard time, Warthogs crashing through pools of water and lightning strikes lighting up the playing field, dynamic weather effects could add some real spectacle to the multiplayer experience. We've already had maps gradually opening up as the game progresses thanks to the Invasion gametype, but what if we saw these kinds of changes in Big Team Slayer battles? With the higher-tier weapons and vehicles becoming available after a set time, collapsing buildings opening up more of the map and natural events like landslides or the tide pushing the action towards a central point as the match progresses. Hardcore Halo fans probably wouldn't accept dynamic maps with open arms, but Halo 4 is the start of a brand new era for the franchise, a perfect time to change things up a little by adding some innovative ideas to keep the game feeling fresh.
