Halo 4: 10 Reasons It's The Best Halo Yet

7. Best Looking Halo Yet

The Halo games have always had a very unique look and boasted fine graphics, but Halo 4 really takes this to the next level. Granted, it's not delivered anything that gets close to toppling Battlefield 3 as the best looking game of all time, but within its aesthetic style, and limited by the somewhat dated Xbox 360 hardware, this is a fantastic technical achievement that's only occasionally marred by nagging issues like slow-down (usually during a frantic online game). Early on, when you emerge from a valley to see a sprawling vista, it's an awe-inspiring experience, one of those rare moments in a game in which we might put the gun to rest and just stare at what stands before us. The game's art direction in general is stellar, especially for a game of this type; it puts paid to the entire notion that video games are, indeed, art, when they're this meticulously constructed, with an insane level of attention to detail. No other game this year is as fine-tuned from a stylistic perspective; it is absolutely immaculate.
