4. The New Enemies

After fighting enemies like the Flood and the Covenant for the last five Halo games, it nice to know that 343i has planned to introduce gamers to other antagonists from the Halo universe. At E3, 343i showed a new trailer for Halo 4. In the trailer fans were shown the first footage of the new enemies that Spartan 117 will be facing, the Forerunners. The Forerunners are an ancient alien race that dates back 100,000 years before the events of the Halo series. All that is known about the Forerunners is the information given from the artifacts that they have left on planets in the Halo universe. Their job was to preserve all life in the galaxy, and their main enemy is the Flood. When Master Chief€™s ship crashes on the planet Requiem, he will have to face the Forerunners and their highly evolved warriors known as the Prometheans. The Prometheans use different types of weapons, which are new to the franchise. Ten new weapons will be added to Halo 4 seven of which are Forerunner made. One of these weapons, the €˜Scattershot€™ shotgun, can bounce off surfaces to disintegrate enemies. 343i has already said that the Flood would not be making an appearance in this game, which will be a welcome change of pace. The Forerunners will make a great addition to the series and will serve to give players a different Halo experience.
