Halo 5: 10 Things Fans Need

9. New And Original Weapons And Vehicles

Halo Sniper It cannot be said that we haven't seen new weapons and vehicles appear over the course of Halo's lifeline. The problem is that since 'Halo 3' we have merely seen weapons get recycled, sometimes remaining the same and sometimes just being given a new paint job or fire rate. We have even seen weapons get taken away in sequels to be replaced by less loveable and less useful versions which - rather than providing a new dynamic to the game - simply serve a similar purpose. That being said, the 'silenced SMG' is one weapon fans would not mind seeing return in the next game. An example of similar weapons is the 'Battle Rifle', which was replaced by the 'Designated Marksman Rifle'. Opinions vary as to which weapon is better, though at the end of the day they are both just scoped, semi-automatic rifles. Again, the 'Hornet' vehicle was replaced by the 'Falcon' which was near enough the same apart from the addition of gun turrets that passengers could use. Many fans couldn't see why both models weren't just kept, rather than replacing one with the other. This could be said for many weapons and vehicles in Halo, why replace weapons when you can simply add to them? Though many have been brought back in more recent games, the 'new' Forerunner weapons seen in Halo 4 were bland, blatantly repainted copies of other alien or human weapons. Considering the numerous alien races, you might think the developers would get more creative with their guns. When it was first seen, the hedgehog-like 'Needler' gun was a fun and unique weapon, easy to identify with its vibrant colour scheme. More original and interesting weapons like this need introducing to the next Halo game, as well as some more vehicles. Features as simple as pulling off the gun of a dead 'Hunter' or taking the shield from a 'Jackal' would be welcome additions to the Halo arsenal. The spin-off 'Halo Wars' introduced a wide variety of vehicles that were never seen again in the following Halo releases, so Halo 5 could always draw inspiration from there if necessary. Vehicles that hold a greater capacity of players would also help to make online multiplayer and cooperative experiences far more tactical and interesting.
