3. Smart Scope (Letting You Zoom In With Any Gun)
This was always going to be the big one; the inclusion of a very COD-like ability, first unveiled in the midst of The Master Chief Collection's terrible performance on Xbox One. Because of that - and because having the ability to aim down the sites for every gun forever changes Halo's patented gameplay into something that puts way more focus on headshots and playing like Call of Duty - fans have rebelled against its inclusion for over a year now. The thing that saves it - for those willing to give it a chance anyway - is that getting shot whilst in this mode instantly snaps you back out of it. Attempting to win a close-quarters firefight by aiming down the sights will just see you ventilated instead, and that's great. However, this puts the focus on increasing damage from ranged attacks, regardless of if you've got a pistol, assault rifle or whatever else. Clearly 343 saw how reliable the Battle Rifle has become for headshots and sought to rebalance by bringing every other weapon up to speed, but it remains to be seen how making ranged combat more effective will work when the entire world is looking to exploit it.
