Halo Infinite: 10 Story Questions It Must Answer
9. Where Is Banished Leader Atriox?
Halo Wars 2 is a severely underappreciated game. Developer Creative Assembly put together both a fantastic sequel and solid console RTS, all while introducing exciting new elements into Halo's expansive lore.
One of these strong new entries into the Halo canon is the Banished, an offset of the Covenant that have defied the traditional structure of that group and have gone on their own mission. They're an intimidating faction that worked well in Halo Wars 2's story.
Their leader, Atriox, is one of the more interesting villains Halo has had. There are shades of both Halo 2's Tartarus and the Arbiter from the original Halo Wars in him - an effective combination as they are two of the series best antagonists.
While Halo Wars 2 ended with him stuck on the Ark, one has to wonder where he has been since the end of that game and the beginning of Infinite.
In the gameplay demo released by 343, the new Banished villain Escharum mentions honoring the will of Atriox, but he doesn't seem to have a physical presence in the game - so far at least. It would be a waste for 343 to discard such a great antagonist.
