Halo: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best

6. Halo 4

Halo Games
343 Industries

Halo 4 was the first entry in the ongoing Reclaimer Saga and certainly started things off for Master Chief's new storyline on a high note. As previously stated, with Halo 4 came alterations to franchise's status quo, in spite of the fact that Master Chief had returned as the main protagonist

For starters, there was an all-new roster of enemies and a fresh arsenal of weapons via the Prometheans. And throughout the narrative, we see everything the Chief knows begin to change before his eyes. No longer is he the 'Last Spartan', as a whole new generation of the super-soldiers had emerged. It also became clear that Cortana, Chief's A.I. right-hand woman since day one, was not long for this world (or any world, really.)

However, while Halo 4 definitely took things in a new direction, some relics from the previous games, namely the Covenant, were kept to help bridge the gap while the groundwork was laid for something bigger. Plus, the visuals were as beautiful as ever and the sound design was on point. To that end, this game was essentially the franchise's Force Awakens.

Sure, the writing wasn't the strongest and the final boss was way too easy, which prevents Halo 4 from ranking higher, but it was a solid addition to the series and a step up from Halo 3.
