Halo: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best

4. Halo 5: Guardians

Halo Games
343 Industries

Halo 5: Guardians, the most recent main series release, is a game that honestly gets much more flak than it deserves. Yes, the advertising was incredibly misleading as to how the narrative would play out and the campaign wasn't as long as it should have been, but there's also a lot that the game has going for it.

For starters, say what you will about the decision to turn Cortana into a villain, but her story unfolded in a way that was incredibly engaging and the great Jen Taylor gave what is arguably her single best performance as the character to date.

In addition, the controls were tighter than ever before, mechanics were improved, missions were a lot of fun, it was interesting experiencing the narrative from two different points-of-view and the graphics and cutscenes were absolutely gorgeous. The multiplayer in Halo 5 is also exceptional, especially in regards the addictive, elimination-based Breakout and Warzone, which is chaotic in the best possible way. Plus, all of the game's DLC maps were free.

Halo 5 may not be perfect and the turn the narrative took didn't resonate with everyone, but the fact remains that it is objectively a great game. In fact, had the campaign been a bit longer and delved into Master Chief and Spartan Locke's feud a bit more, it possibly could have topped this list.
