Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
2. The Old Comforting Familiarity
There's a reason the Harry Potter fandom made this game an absolute slamdunk opportunity for the developers: as a community, they're about the most voracious of all fandoms. You bring out something that extends the Wizarding World and it will get as much attention as the nonsense additions to the universe's lore that JK Rowling keeps needlessly peddling.
And while it was important that we got some new stuff, the more crucial agenda for Wizards Unite was delivering on the familiar. And they have managed it with aplomb. Yes, the characters are older (apart from the strangely everygreen teachers, for some reason) but it's still the likes of Harry Potter and Hagrid and Hermione Granger.
And best of all, as you're walking around, the simply wonderful soundtrack from the movies is your constant companion. It's like being actively within the Wizarding World and it's enough to make even the most cynical of fans lose their minds in glee.
