8. Ellie / Riley Meet
Many fans know the tale of Riley's demise and how Ellie came to be infected, but only hardcore fans of The Last of Us will know how Ellie and Riley came to meet. Along with Ellie's experience of moving to the Boston quarantine zone, the tale was explored in the American Dreams series of comics.
With the story perfectly laid out in the comics, the beginning of Ellie and Riley's friendship could easily by translated onto the screen.
We know for a fact that Storm Reid has been cast as Riley so the character will finally be integrated into The Last of Us' main narrative for the first time, after previously only appearing in the comics and DLC Left Behind.
Ellie and Riley don't actually get off to the best start. Riley saves Ellie from a group of boys who target her in a fight but in true Ellie style, she's adamant that she could have fended for herself. It takes sometime for the duo to warm to one another.
By including these kinds of scenes, Riley's demise becomes all the more poignant and gives us a deeper understanding of the kind of trauma and heartbreak that Ellie has lived through.
