Hitman 2 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
1. It's Basically Just More Of The Same
While some might be of the opinion that the previous game's formula was strong enough that it didn't really need much refinement, it's still a tad underwhelming how little fresh Hitman 2 brings to the table.
To be honest, it doesn't even really feel like a sequel - after all, it's basically Hitman: Season 2 - with the core gameplay differentiated only by a few minor quality-of-life improvements (such as a new picture-in-picture display alerting you to a body being discovered or a camera recording your face).
As such you might feel a little miffed paying a full AAA price tag for a game that blatantly recycles assets from its predecessor and doesn't do much to innovative or build on its successes.
Many will be totally fine with that, but it sure is nice when sequels actually try to take a step forward, no?
