Hitman 2016: 10 Signs It'll Make The Series Great Again

10. The Levels Are Huge & Encourage Exploration

Until the more linear Hitman: Absolution, the series was known for its vast hub-like levels, which felt like porous spaces offering plenty of angles from which to approach your target. They were filled with little nooks and crannies from which you could set up a sniper rifle, or pounce on some poor waiter whose clothes you need to steal before carrying out your mission. The new Hitman will reintroduce this sense of scale, making levels bigger and richer than ever before. According to Square Enix, the levels will be "six to seven times larger" than those in Absolution. Of course, size isn't everything, but from the gameplay that's been shown so far, it looks like the environments are beautifully designed, and brimming with life. In the 'Showstopper' mission, the player needs to assassinate a Russian spymaster at a lavish fashion show. The event takes place in a Parisian palace, and you have countless ways to get inside - you can get in through the windows, climb drainpipes to get on the roof, the staff entrance, basement, or traditional old front door. Once inside, the place is also an awesome labyrinth of murderous potential. IO Interactive described the new Hitman levels as a 'swiss cheese' - filled with holes and entry-points for you to weave your way through. Perfect.
