Hitman 2016: 10 Signs It'll Make The Series Great Again

6. The Blueprint Map Is Returning

Remember the halcyon days of Hitman when you had to bring up a map to monitor enemy movements, patrols and patterns, rather than just whacking on your X-ray spec-sorry, 'instinct' vision to ogle enemies through walls? In hindsight, the map system was maybe a bit cumbersome, but it made the experience more tactical and, somehow, professional - which is exactly how you want to feel when playing as the ever-elegant 47. The classic blueprint map was dropped for Absolution, but is now making a comeback. We're not yet sure what form the map will take, but it'd be great if it appeared in such a way that it didn't completely take you away from the action. The blueprint map traditionally didn't pause the game, which is what made it so useful for learning enemy's movements. It'd be great to see it appear as a toggled translucent overlay on the screen. Currently, new footage shows a new small map at the bottom left of the display, which more hardcore players might scoff, saying it makes the game too easy. We're not sure yet whether this is optional. If the blueprint map gets implemented in the right way, then it'll end up being the most welcome returning feature.
