Hitman Beta: 4 Things It Gets Right (And 6 That Really Suck)

5. Really Sucks - A.I. Severely Needs Fixing

Speaking of taking cover, the A.I. won't always know how to respond to such a thing, and will more often than not either stand out in the open or form an orderly line and slowly encroach on your position - that's if they're not busy firing in the wrong direction or yelling statements that have nothing to do with what's happening at the time. I once took out a target in the second level - literally, I was standing there, snapping his neck - and the enemy guard shouted "You're just not a very nice chap, are you!", as if I'd bumped into him. Hilarious, yes, but the A.I. in almost all instances is bugged like it's always been in these games, and that's before you factor in trying to actively hide from anyone pursuing you. Once a character has become suspicious of your actions they'll start to walk after you, asking you to stop in the process. The problem, is whilst most of the time you can dive around a corner and lose your tail, other times the threat ring that shows where the person is will remain active, continually filling or making the appropriate sound effect to indicate they're presumably watching you... through multiple walls. Ducking down out of sight will put off even the most ardent searchers, and most of the time if you think you've gotten out of site, you'll hear the person say something accusatory, only for all the alarms to go off regardless.
