Horizon Forbidden West: 10 Best New Gameplay Abilities
3. Improve Gear With Workbenches
The crafting system played a big part in Horizon: Zero Dawn, but outside of crafting ammunition, it didn't have that much depth and weapon purchases were usually from shops.
In Forbidden West, you'll gain access to a much more robust crafting system via the workbench.
From there, you'll be able to invest gathered resources in improving your weaponry and your outfits. The game's developers have went on record as saying that items will have multiple upgrade tiers, so you'll be keeping plenty busy upgrading them all!
We're really hoping that the upgrades to outfits also include cosmetic changes rather than just stat buffs; it would be really cool to be able to pimp Aloy out in your own style.
According to the developers, the workbench will "unlock new perks, mod slots, skill and offers a bigger degree of customisation, resistances and new abilities for players."
These workbenches are scattered throughout the various inhabited settlements in the world of Forbidden West.
The traditional on-the-fly ammo crafting system from Zero Dawn will also be present in Forbidden West.
