Horizon Forbidden West: 9 Things We Want To See
5. Bigger variation of wildlife
Hunting and crafting was a major part of Horizon Zero Dawn, scavenging the local wildlife to better improve your gear and equipment. But hunting said animals boiled down to point and shoot.
Considering how lush the world is and the integration of long extinct plants, why are there only about 10 different animal types seen throughout the entire game? None of which fight back.
Now, we understand that the highlight of the original was the machine encounters, but to keep things fresh why not incorporate animal battles too? A cougar jumping down from a hidden alcove just as you’re about to loosen your arrow on a Thunderjaw would make some pretty intense moments.
Make the animal AI more intelligent too, something akin to Red Dead Redemption 2, to force the player to think about their plan of attack, instead of rushing in guns (or bow) blazing.
One of the major themes of the first game was Humankind’s demise and the Earth being reclaimed by wildlife. Exploring this in the sequel even further would make for a more immersive story and allow the player to connect with Aloy even more.
