Horizon Forbidden West: 9 Things We Want To See

6. Options For Stealth (NOT Just Tall Grass)

Horizon Forbidden West
Guerilla Games

Tall grass. The staple of any stealth sections in modern videogames and, unfortunately, Guerilla Games is guilty of this all-too-common trope too.

Now we understand that 90% of the game takes place outdoors, so options are limited when it comes to stealth, especially considering it’s futuristic yet tribal setting. However, you only need to look at something like Metal Gear Solid V to see how stealth is done well.

Obviously Aloy doesn’t have half the gadget’s Snake does, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable. Do away with the tall grass, or give it a back seat, and allow the player to use their creativity to take out enemies silently. Perhaps even using the machines own AI against them to take down one another or distract enemies when you are seen.

Basically, there are unlimited possibilities when it comes to stealth in video games. Not just crouching in a conveniently placed section of overgrown flora.
