Horizon Zero Dawn Reviews: 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

2. Enemy AI Could Be Better

Horizon Zero Dawn
Guerrilla Games
"Enemy AI isn’t always reliable, which might be my one real gripe about the game. Laying down traps is one thing, but sometimes robots just magically know where they are even if you’re undetected, and you’ll spend some frustrating time trying to convince them to walk near the bloody things. They also sometimes forget about combat even when in the middle of it, running off and randomly returning." - The Jimquisition
"The artificial intelligence is quite simplistic, with everyone (and thing) suffering from the usual goldfish-like memory spans of most stealth games." - Metro

Amid all of the game's astonishing technical complexity, one of the more conspicuously disappointing elements is the enemy AI, which is about as dopey as fans of stealth games have probably come to expect over the years.

If you were hoping for this one to break the mold in that regard, you might be a little underwhelmed at the simplicity of the enemy patrol routines and behaviours, which are by turns predictable and nonsensically erratic depending on the context.

Not a deal breaker, but a shame all the same.
