If you tired of Injustices story mode and beat em up arenas, the game gave you ample opportunity to take a break and cut loose with its many S.T.A.R Labs minigames. These were largely simplistic button bashers, requiring the player to master a series of increasingly annoying combos or battles in order to progress. Aquaman's shark whisperer routine was particularly fun (like PaRappa The Rapper, but with Aquaman and a shark), as was Killer Croc's little Arkham cameo, whetting the appetite for an element of Injustice which never really came into its own. Although fun at first, with little variety the laboratory games quickly became repetitive and disappointingly dull. If the minigames are to return which surely they will wed like to see some more polish, making them as exciting, relevant and as playable as the main story. Bringing some more flair and confidence to S.T.A.R Labs would improve Injustice 2 measurably, rounding out the game and increasing its longevity. The story and beat 'em up elements are Injustice's main draw, but that doesn't mean S.T.A.R Labs has to feel so tacked on and disposable. With a little work, the Laboratories minigames could be the S.T.A.R (geddit) of the show.
