Injustice 2: 10 Things We Can't Wait To See

3. The Enemy Of My Enemy€

In a topsy-turvy world where Superman is the enemy, who will step up to save the world(s)? The answer, in Gods Among Us, was the unlikely combination of Lex Luthor, The Joker and Batman. In the case of the latter, that's two Batmen, with a Batman from another universe also joining in on the fun. Well, you can never have enough Batman. Injustice saw the above join forces to settle Superman's hash before he could bring his costume into disrepute any further. It's a trope used many times in the comics the game was inspired by, with Luthor switching sides so many times that it's hard to know which side he's ever on, these days. Indeed, it's an integral part of the character that Lex doesn't necessarily see himself as a bad guy €“ so in a world where Superman is as bad as Luthor has always perceived him to be, it's only natural that he should emerge as world's potential saviour. It€™s always interesting to see old enemies put aside their differences to battle a common enemy, while alternate universe mirrors of well-known heroes and villains can put a nifty spin on things. In addition to the story which has gone before, the very nature of the beat em' up genre is bound to see unlikely alliances form again in order to defeat a greater evil. Although, you know, all that becomes redundant when you can just have Batman teaming up with himself to save the day.
