Injustice 2: 15 Guest Characters NetherRealm Must Include

1. Hellboy

I have to level with you here: I utterly adore Hellboy. There's nothing about the character I won't get behind, whether that be ol' Red himself, the B.P.R.D, or that time he got stuck in Hell. All of it is wonderful I tell you. All of it.

Naturally, the inclusion of Anung un Rama in Boon's original poll sent me into a bit of a frenzy. And whilst I'd already consigned myself to the fact that Todd McFarlane's nineties comic book exemplar would clinch the top spot (because the internet sucks, evidently), hope still exists that Mike Mignola's occult-thrashing devourer of pancakes will get an inclusion later along the line. And why shouldn't he? With two live action films and hundreds of comic books to his name, Hellboy has risen to become one of the comic book medium's most beloved protagonists, combining the macabre with the pulp to create a timeless narrative that harkens back to the days of gothic horror, science-fiction, and everything else in between all at once. He's just perfect.

Even those at least vaguely familiar with the former B.P.R.D agent will know he'd make for a fantastic character to mess around with for gameplay. Hellboy's Samaritan - that big old revolver he lumbers around - is already the perfect ranged weapon, and his array of occult weaponry and melee weapons, not to mention his famous right hand of doom, round out an already capable arsenal to compete with the very best the DC Universe has to offer. He's just an all around perfect pick for a guest spot. No one else comes close.

Are there any other guest characters you'd like to see in NetherRealm's Injustice sequel? Or would you rather they just focused on the DC Universe alone? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
