Injustice 2 Explained: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
1. Sometimes There's No Turning Back
Since they engaged in conflict, it seems that Batman and Superman will never stop fighting. They're only able to unite against a common foe, but once he's no more, there's just too much history between the two to reach a compromise.
Both are alphas, born leaders, and neither one is interested in taking a step back.
At the end of the game, when they share a moment of intimacy, it seems that they might finally reconcile, but that's not possible - Superman is too radical for Batman, while Batman's goodwill seems a sign of weakness to Superman. Both lost family members and both were largely influenced by these losses, yet while Batman wants to fix the world, Superman wants to eliminate those that break the rules.
It's probably more reasonable to give Batman the upper hand, as people are generally faulty, some more than others. Inclusion and reeducation will do the world more good than getting rid of everyone who's ever committed a crime. As proven by Harley or Catwoman, everyone can be good in the right circumstances. It's only interesting to see if Superman will finally see that he's in the wrong for declining others a chance for redemption.
This tension between the two may seem unbearable for fans of both heroes, but it makes for some interesting storylines. It also has a lot of potential, which should put Injustice 3 on your list of most anticipated games.
