Injustice 2 Review: 9 Ups & 2 Downs
Ups
8. It's Got The Best Fighting Game Story Mode Ever (Probably)
No, that's not hyperbole: Injustice 2 may have the best Story Mode in the history of fighting games. Seriously. Granted, it's not a terribly high bar to clear, but this game's 5-hour story is a terrifically cinematic outing which focuses itself on an epic battle between Batman and Superman, darting about at a frantic pace and having players take control of a large swathe of the game's roster.
Sure, you'll end up watching cut-scenes as much as you'll actually play the game, but the story is genuinely involving, and gorgeous rendered to boot. And once you've finished the basic story, there's the opportunity to go back and play through alternate chapters (as the game often asks you to pick one of two fighters to play as), which will unlock an addition thirteenth story chapter.
Considering how little effort most fighting games put into their campaigns, this feels positively revelatory by comparison.
