Yes, like just about any game with loot boxes these days, Injustice has microtransactions, but you know what? It seems that they're not that bad, at least in terms of not encroaching upon the central gameplay mechanics or giving paying players a ludicrously unfair advantage.
It's still skeevy business as always, and some players will feel the pressure to shell out due to the rigour of the RNG, but players who simply pay for the base game won't be put at a gross disadvantage.
Of course, it's worth being wary that, as other developers have done, NetherRealm could very well change their microtransactions model once the reviews have dropped, but right now it's looking totally manageable.
