Jurassic Park: 5 Best Video Games (And 5 That Sucked)

4. Jurassic Park (Super Nintendo, 1993)

Upon it's release, Jurassic Park was kind of a big deal. Big enough for Empire Magazine to famously dub it as being ' quite simply one of the greatest blockbusters of all time'. In turn, the film's treatment on those two heavy weight consoles of the time - Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, natch - needed to be something special. Clearly, this wasn't the case for both.

Whereas Sega opted to create a strong platformer (more on that one later), it's grey competitor enlisted Ocean Software to churn out an oddly unsatisfying top down adventure, where you play as Alan Grant, hunting down eggs. That's about it. It really couldn't have been more of a Nintendo game if it tried.

While this format may have worked for Link and his RPG brethren, this one included shooting dinosaurs and navigating traps with only a limited window of view, creating a difficultly curve that was unpalatable. The bizarre first person sections weren't much cop, either.

This game set a disappointing precedent for how Nintendo would use this movie licenses going forward.
