3. The Dualshock 4 Is Already Put To Good Use
The Dualshock 4 controller boasts numerous bells and whistles that Guerilla took advantage of in ways that actually feel natural. The aforementioned OWL has multiple functions that are all predetermined by swiping the touch pad up, left, right, or down. Think of it as four additional buttons on the controller that create endless possibilities. Some other really neat ideas actually involve the pulsating light on the controller that normally would indicate which number player you are. In Shadow Fall, this light changes from green to yellow to red and actually indicates the current state of your health. Right off the bat, Im admitting that this mechanic is pure genius and should become commonplace in every shooter, first person or third person perspective. Finally, there is a nifty feature that plays audio-logs through the controllers speakers which I actually thought added a great deal of atmosphere to the experience. Imagine this feature in a Bioshock game, where audio-logs are actually addicting to seek out and listen too.
