Kingdom Hearts 3: 8 Ups & 4 Downs

3. Up: Engaging Combat

Kingdom Hearts III
Square Enix

Combat is arguably the biggest and most fun it has ever been. It may not be challenging, but it sure is fun.

That's the keyword for Kingdom Hearts 3- fun. Sora has a different feel from previous games, but he still feels really good to control.

This is most evident in the Keyblade combat. Sora's swings feel weighty and like he's actually putting some force behind his moves. It's a far cry from the floaty feeling of Dream Drop Distance and Birth By Sleep.

Magic may be extremely overpowered, but it's also really satisfying. Using the highest level magic spells always feels great, and it really clears the Heartless out.

Kingdom Hearts 3 also gives you way more movement options than ever before, which becomes really apparent in combat.

All of this isn't even factoring in Keyblade transformations, links and attraction flow. There's a lot to work with here, and although it rarely challenges you it is always fun.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
