Kingsglaive - Final Fantasy XV Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

3. Poor Pacing

Pacing is a real issue here: Kingsglaive clocks in at a meaty 115 minutes, and at times that length will effortlessly fly by, while often it will just feel like a tiresome slog.

After an exhilarating opening action sequence, be prepared to settle in for an unreasonable number of scenes loaded with overstuffed dialogues, many of which simply repeat the same thing or tell characters something the audience has already seen.

Those who suffer through this talkiness will be rewarded with an almost exhausting amount of action mid-film, pretty much wall-to-wall with minimal interruptions throughout, but the movie overall may have been better-served by having its action doled out amid all the chatting, to make it a less torturous experience.

And finally, it all arrives at a jarringly abrupt finale, cementing the fact that this film is in serious need of a more competent editor.
